About the position

The Chess Instructor at Strategic Kids, LLC is responsible for teaching elementary and middle school students how to play chess in an engaging and supportive environment. Utilizing a story-based curriculum, instructors will provide tailored lessons that cater to various skill levels, fostering essential life skills such as strategic thinking and sportsmanship. The role includes conducting classes that consist of a 30-minute lesson followed by 30 minutes of play, culminating in a fun tournament for students.

Responsibilities

• Teach chess to elementary and middle school students after school.
• Utilize a story-based curriculum to engage students in learning chess.
• Tailor lessons to accommodate different skill levels of students.
• Conduct a 30-minute lesson followed by 30 minutes of chess playing time.
• Organize and oversee a fun tournament at the end of each course.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with students or children.
• 1 year of classroom management experience.
• 1 year of chess experience required.
• Must have a valid Driver's License and a reliable vehicle.
• Ability to pass Live Scan Fingerprints (paid for by Strategic Kids).
