About the position
The Chess Instructor position at Togetherhood involves teaching chess to elementary school students in various community settings. The role emphasizes creating engaging and positive learning experiences while fostering critical thinking and a passion for chess among students. Instructors will be matched with teaching opportunities that can last from 10 to 18 weeks, focusing on both foundational and advanced chess skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach chess lessons to students in a group setting
- Assess students' progress and adjust lesson plans accordingly
- Encourage students to think critically and apply chess principles to their gameplay
- Offer advanced lessons for students who are ready to take their chess skills to the next level
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment
- Consistently arrive at your class on time (or early!)
- Create a memorable experience for the children in your class that allows them to develop an understanding of and passion for chess
Requirements
- Relevant teaching experience
- Passion for education
