About the position
Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic chess tutors to join their after-school enrichment program. The role involves teaching chess to children, fostering a love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship. Tutors will conduct interactive classes, utilizing provided curriculum and materials, while also receiving training and support from the company.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interactive and engaging chess classes for groups of 10-15 children.
- Impart knowledge of chess while promoting good sportsmanship among students.
- Utilize Chess Wizards' curriculum and materials effectively during lessons.
- Encourage connections between chess problem-solving and real-life situations.
- Maintain punctuality and promptness for scheduled classes.
Requirements
- Some chess ability; champion level is not required but a positive attitude is essential.
- Experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor is preferred.
- Ability to drive between locations for classes.
Nice-to-haves
- USCF rating in chess is a plus.
- Experience in working with children in an educational setting.
