About the position

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic chess tutors to join their after-school enrichment program. The role focuses on teaching children the game of chess while promoting good sportsmanship and life skills. Tutors will conduct engaging classes, fostering a love for chess in a fun and interactive environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive and fun chess classes for groups of 10-15 children.
• Encourage good sportsmanship and positive role modeling among students.
• Utilize Chess Wizards' curriculum and materials creatively during lessons.
• Maintain punctuality and promptness for scheduled classes.
• Drive between locations as needed for classes.

Requirements

• Some chess ability; champion level is not required but a positive attitude is essential.
• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor is preferred.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving with real-life problem-solving.
• Sincere drive to be a positive role model for children.

Nice-to-haves

• USCF rating in chess is a plus.
• Experience in teaching or tutoring children.
