About the position

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic chess tutors to join their after-school enrichment program. The role involves teaching chess to children, fostering a love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship. Tutors will conduct interactive classes, utilizing provided curriculum and materials, while also serving as positive role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive and engaging chess classes for groups of 10-15 children.
• Impart knowledge of chess while promoting good sportsmanship and life skills.
• Utilize Chess Wizards' curriculum and materials effectively during lessons.
• Maintain punctuality and adhere to COVID-19 prevention practices as outlined by CDC and Chess Wizards.
• Encourage connections between chess problem-solving and real-life situations.
• Provide a positive and fun learning environment for students.

Requirements

• Some chess ability; champion level is not required but a positive attitude is essential.
• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor is preferred.
• Ability to drive between locations for classes.
• Sincere drive to be a positive role model for children.

Nice-to-haves

• USCF rating in chess is a plus.
• Creativity in teaching and engaging students.
