About the position

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic chess tutors to join our after-school enrichment program. The role involves teaching chess to children, fostering their love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship. Tutors will conduct interactive classes, utilizing provided curriculum and materials, while also having the opportunity for flexible scheduling and competitive pay.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive and engaging chess classes for groups of 10-15 children.
• Foster a love for chess and promote good sportsmanship among students.
• Utilize Chess Wizards' curriculum and materials effectively during lessons.
• Maintain punctuality and promptness for scheduled classes.
• Encourage connections between chess problem-solving and real-life situations.

Requirements

• Experience in tutoring or teaching, especially with children.
• Some chess ability; a USCF rating is a plus but not required.
• A positive attitude and the ability to create a fun learning environment.
• Capability to drive between different teaching locations.

Nice-to-haves

• Teaching or camp counselor experience.
• Champion level chess skills are not required, but a passion for the game is essential.
