About the position

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic chess tutors to join their after-school enrichment program. The role involves teaching children the game of chess while promoting good sportsmanship and life skills. Tutors will conduct interactive and fun classes, making chess enjoyable for students and fostering a love for the game.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive and engaging chess classes for groups of 10-15 children.
• Encourage good sportsmanship and positive role modeling among students.
• Utilize Chess Wizard's curriculum and materials creatively during lessons.
• Maintain punctuality and promptness for scheduled classes.
• Drive between locations as needed for classes.

Requirements

• Some chess ability; champion level is not required but a positive attitude is essential.
• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor is preferred.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving with real-life problem-solving.
• Sincere drive to be a positive role model for children.

Nice-to-haves

• USCF rating in chess is a plus.
• Experience in working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
