About the position

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic chess tutors to join our after-school enrichment program. The role involves teaching chess to children, fostering their love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship. Tutors will conduct interactive classes, encouraging connections between chess and real-life problem-solving while providing a fun and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive and fun chess classes for groups of 10-15 children.
• Encourage good sportsmanship and positive role modeling among students.
• Utilize Chess Wizards' curriculum and materials creatively during lessons.
• Implement COVID-19 prevention practices as per CDC and school guidelines.
• Maintain punctuality and promptness for all classes.
• Drive between locations as needed for teaching sessions.

Requirements

• Some chess ability; champion level is not required but a positive attitude is essential.
• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor is a plus.
• Ability to connect chess problem-solving with real-life problem-solving.
• Sincere drive to be a positive role model for children.
• Capability to drive between locations.

Nice-to-haves

• USCF rating is a plus.
• Experience in teaching or tutoring children.
