About the position

Chess Wizards is seeking enthusiastic chess tutors to join their after-school enrichment program. The role involves teaching chess to children, fostering a love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship. Tutors will conduct interactive classes, utilizing provided curriculum and materials, while also having the opportunity for flexible scheduling and competitive pay.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interactive and engaging chess classes for groups of 10-15 children.
• Foster a love for chess and promote good sportsmanship among students.
• Utilize Chess Wizards' curriculum and materials effectively during lessons.
• Maintain punctuality and adhere to COVID-19 prevention practices as outlined by Chess Wizards and local guidelines.
• Encourage connections between chess problem-solving and real-life situations.

Requirements

• Some chess ability; champion level is not required but a positive attitude is essential.
• Experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor is preferred.
• Ability to drive between locations for classes.

Nice-to-haves

• USCF rating in chess is a plus.
• Experience in working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
