About the position

The Chest Pain Coordinator at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is responsible for ensuring high-quality, efficient care for patients experiencing chest pain. This role involves promoting positive relationships between staff and the Quality Department, facilitating hospital knowledge regarding quality and best practices, and participating in performance improvement activities. The coordinator will also analyze facility quality performance data and support clinical process improvement teams to achieve quality goals.

Responsibilities

  • Rounds on units in the facility to strengthen and promote relationships between staff and the Quality Department.
  • Promotes a positive culture that values individual strengths and is committed to optimal patient care and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Facilitates the growth of hospital knowledge regarding quality and high reliability, including the dissemination and implementation of best practices.
  • Participates in and coordinates activities for Performance Improvement committees, including meeting preparation, setting agendas, writing minutes, and following up with action items.
  • Proficient in use of Meditech for reporting, abstraction, and trending purposes.
  • Assists with proactive patient safety activities to create high reliability organizations, reflected in reduced errors and increased staff involvement in safety culture.
  • Utilizes problem-solving methodology and critical thinking analysis for improving metrics or assigned projects for performance improvement.
  • Performs regular analysis of facility quality performance data and plans steps for ongoing improvement based on data analysis.
  • Supports clinical process improvement teams to achieve quality and performance improvement goals.
  • Executes special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Provides clinical and professional expertise for patients, families, and staff members.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies under the guidance of the Quality Director.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License.
  • Three years of recent clinical experience in an Acute Care Stroke/Neuroscience Unit.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Office.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills for process improvement and decision making.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare quality improvement role.
  • Familiarity with performance improvement methodologies.
