About the position

The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) at Deluxe is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, financial reporting, financial systems, and shared services of the company. This position ensures the integrity of the company's financial data and reporting, while enforcing corporate accounting policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP and SEC requirements. The CAO will drive continuous improvement and development of the financial staff and processes, collaborating closely with the CFO and other senior team members to evaluate and provide strategic business insights into Deluxe's various business units. In this leadership role, the CAO will coordinate the company's internal and external reporting functions, ensuring that a robust system of internal controls surrounding financial reporting is established and effectively operating. The CAO will also be responsible for ensuring that the company's accounting procedures and policies conform to generally accepted accounting principles. This includes leading financial system improvements to guarantee the accuracy and availability of financial reports for business use. The CAO will identify and implement enhancements to the company's shared services structure, creating a Centers of Excellence (COE) framework that leverages best practices while ensuring that the team is engaged in driving high-value work. Additionally, the CAO will enhance the financial performance of the company by analyzing and interpreting financial data and reporting to senior management. This role will also direct and coordinate the company's monthly and annual financial closing and internal reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial information is available for decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate the company's monthly and annual financial closing and internal reporting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 10 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards such as GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience leading, developing, and managing teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA certification.
  • 15 years of related experience including global experience in a public corporation as a Controller, Group Controller, or Assistant Controller.
  • 7 years of management experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
