About the position
The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) will oversee Finance, Accounting, Payroll, and Benefits Administration for a client with a diverse portfolio of 20 businesses in the business services and technology sector. This role is crucial for managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support the company's growth and values. The CAO will report directly to the CFO and is expected to lead teams in cash management, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Manage teams over cash management, accounting, payroll, benefits, and financial systems.
- Facilitate the budgeting and forecasting process, providing timely analyses, reports, and dashboards.
- Prepare 1 and 5-year cash flow statements and ad hoc analyses.
- Generate detailed daily activity reports and forecasts for cash management, including bank accounts, wire transfers, and ACH files.
- Prepare quarterly reports, including covenant calculations.
- Oversee corporate accounting, managing the department responsible for general accounting for all departments and certain operating units, and prepare consolidated reports.
- Support business systems by overseeing the team that manages financial, accounting, and payroll systems, including user administration, system maintenance, upgrades, and fixes.
- Conduct business risk assessments for accounting and balance sheet reviews.
Requirements
- Big 4 experience and CPA certification required.
- MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of related experience in accounting and finance.
- 4+ years of experience as a Corporate Controller, CAO, or FP&A leader.
- 8+ years of experience overseeing cash management, accounting, and business systems functions.
- Significant experience working with IT and HR.
- Experience with companies generating over $1 billion in revenue.
