About the position

The Chief Administrative and Business Officer serves as a strategic administrative partner to the leadership of the Rory Meyers College of Nursing, acting as the chief financial steward and leader of administrative support services. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the faculty, students, fellows, and staff receive high-quality administrative support that complies with University policies and procedures, including risk mitigation. Reporting directly to the Dean, this position also shares accountability with the Chief Financial Officer of the university regarding financial and budgetary responsibilities as well as risk management. In this capacity, the Chief Administrative and Business Officer will oversee school-wide strategic initiatives that align with the mission of both the school and the university. Responsibilities encompass general and administrative operations, which include facilities management, IT, human resources, and continuous process improvement. The role also involves comprehensive financial and budgetary management, compliance, risk management, and research administration. The Chief Administrative and Business Officer will work closely with the Dean and other school leaders to conceptualize, prioritize, and plan new programs or changes, ensuring that the school's mission and goals are achieved through effective resource planning and management. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and operations. The Chief Administrative and Business Officer will be responsible for building and managing a high-performance team of administrative and financial professionals, ensuring that all faculty and staff understand the regulations and requirements pertinent to their activities. This role also emphasizes the importance of connecting the organization with the university through effective communication, alignment of priorities, and active engagement in administrative initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead school-wide strategic initiatives that advance the mission of the Rory Meyers College of Nursing and the university.
  • Oversee general and administrative operations including facilities, IT, human resources, and continuous process improvement.
  • Manage financial and budgetary responsibilities, ensuring optimal use of financial resources.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and risk management protocols.
  • Administer research operations and support for faculty and staff.
  • Act as a liaison to central university offices regarding budget, treasury, accounting, and risk management.
  • Develop and implement the school's strategy in collaboration with leadership, faculty, and staff.
  • Monitor external and internal factors influencing the school's mission and goals.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls for effective resource use and accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in administrative processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree (MBA or advanced degree) preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience with complex strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships and influence outcomes in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated success in developing people and organizations.
