About the position

The Chief Administrative and Business Officer at New York University's Rory Meyers College of Nursing serves as a strategic administrative partner to the college's leadership, acting as the chief financial steward and leader of administrative support services. This role is pivotal in ensuring that faculty, students, fellows, and staff receive high-quality administrative support that complies with university policies and procedures, including risk mitigation. Reporting directly to the Dean, this position also shares joint accountability with the Chief Financial Officer of the university regarding financial and budgetary responsibilities as well as risk management. In this capacity, the Chief Administrative and Business Officer will oversee school-wide strategic initiatives that align with the mission of both the college and the university. Responsibilities encompass general and administrative operations, which include facilities management, information technology, human resources, and continuous process improvement. The role also involves comprehensive financial and budgetary management, compliance, and research administration. The officer will work closely with the Dean to achieve the school's mission and goals, collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and service providers to develop and implement effective strategies. This includes understanding and monitoring both external and internal factors that influence the school's objectives and planning for the necessary resources to achieve these goals. The financial management aspect of the role includes providing detailed financial information, analysis, and advice to optimize the use of the college's financial resources. The officer will create and update long-range financial plans, prepare all-funds budgets, and analyze financial performance against these budgets. They will also serve as a liaison to central university offices in various areas such as budget, treasury, accounting, and risk management, ensuring strong internal controls and compliance with regulations. The Chief Administrative and Business Officer is responsible for building and managing a high-performance team of administrative and financial professionals, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead school-wide strategic initiatives that advance the mission of the college and the university.
  • Oversee general and administrative operations including facilities, IT, human resources, and continuous process improvement.
  • Manage financial and budgetary responsibilities, ensuring compliance and risk management.
  • Serve as a liaison to central university offices regarding budget, treasury, accounting, and risk management.
  • Develop and implement the school's strategy in partnership with leadership, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial information, analysis, and advice to optimize financial resources.
  • Create and update long-range financial plans reflecting critical issues and available resources.
  • Establish and monitor targets for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Build and manage a team of high-performance administrative and financial professionals.
  • Represent the Dean in decision-making capacities with university central administrative offices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree (MBA or advanced degree) preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience with complex strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships and influence outcomes within a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated success in developing people and organizations.
