About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Neurosciences, Neurology, and Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital is responsible for the strategic development, operations, and continuous performance improvement of the clinical, academic, and research departments. This role involves overseeing operations at affiliated hospitals, harmonizing procedures across the health system, and serving as the administrative leader for the departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery. The CAO will assist in developing and implementing strategic operational plans, manage human resources and recruitment, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while optimizing financial performance and quality of care.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and programmatic development for the departments.
  • Financial management and budget development and execution.
  • Management of clinical practices and operations within the departments.
  • Oversight of HR and recruitment processes for the institutes within the department.
  • Collaboration with executive leadership and department directors for analysis and planning.
  • Management of the Professional Fee Billing Office and compliance with regulations.
  • Leadership in educational and operational initiatives within the departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in MBA, MHA, MPH, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience as an administrator in an academic medical or surgical department.
  • Experience in neurosciences is preferred.
  • Experience in strategic planning and business development within healthcare.
  • Exceptional leadership and mediation abilities.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and excellence in healthcare.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working within an Academic Medical Center or large integrated delivery system.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship building and change management.
