About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for Neurosciences at Johns Hopkins Hospital is responsible for the strategic development, operations, and continuous performance improvement of the Neurology and Neurosurgery departments. This role involves overseeing operations across affiliated hospitals, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading administrative functions to enhance clinical, academic, and research activities. The CAO will also play a key role in strategic planning, financial management, and optimizing organizational capacity to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee strategic programmatic planning for the Neurology and Neurosurgery departments.
  • Manage financial operations, including budget development and execution.
  • Lead practice management initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Administer the Neurosciences, Neurology, and Neurosurgery departments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
  • Assist department directors with analysis, consultation, and planning.
  • Coordinate space allocation and human resources for the department's institutes.
  • Manage the Professional Fee Billing Office and ensure productivity management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in MBA, MHA, MPH, or a related field preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience as an administrator in an academic medical or surgical department required.
  • Experience in neurosciences preferred.
  • Experience in strategic planning and business development within healthcare highly desirable.
  • Exceptional leadership and mediation abilities required.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and excellence in healthcare essential.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working within an academic medical center or large integrated delivery system.
