The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a pivotal leadership role within the healthcare sector, specifically tailored for seasoned professionals with extensive experience in critical access hospitals, acute care facilities, or rural healthcare settings. Reporting directly to the Service Area Chief Executive (CE), the CAO will provide leadership, direction, planning, and oversight of operational matters for the ministry. This role is integral to the ministry's executive team and involves high-level administrative oversight of daily operations at the medical center. Key responsibilities include ensuring quality and safety in patient care, engaging caregivers and providers, and enhancing the overall patient experience. The CAO will monitor, assess, and enhance operational processes to meet medical center objectives and metrics, lead initiatives aimed at improving resource management and stakeholder satisfaction, and maintain accountability for the operating budget and staff productivity. The CAO will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including caregivers, core leaders, physicians, and local government officials. This role requires a commitment to developing an organizational culture that promotes excellence and integrity while driving strategic alliances that create business opportunities. The CAO will lead the development and implementation of an integrated delivery system, ensuring that the organization’s vision is realized through effective strategic planning and execution. Overall, the CAO is expected to embody the mission and values of Providence Health and Services, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the medical center, ensuring quality, safety, and patient experience.
  • Monitor, assess, and enhance operational processes to achieve medical center objectives and metrics.
  • Lead initiatives to improve resource management, quality of care, safety, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Manage the overall operating budget performance and staff productivity/efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including caregivers and local officials.
  • Drive high standards for individual, team, and organizational accomplishment.
  • Oversee financial and capital management for the medical center.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations during regulatory and accreditation processes.
  • Develop networks and relationships with community leaders to improve community health.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an integrated delivery system within Flathead and Lake Counties.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in health administration, Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare, or related field.
  • 5 years of senior leadership experience in an acute care hospital or medical center.
  • 7 years of progressively responsible leadership positions in the healthcare field.
