About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) plays a crucial role in building and managing the administrative structure and capacity within the Chamber. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, the CAO oversees various functions including space planning, policy development, internal controls, risk management, and human resources. This position requires frequent travel between New York City and Albany, and involves collaboration with multiple teams to ensure effective operational management and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

  • Build administrative structure and capacity within the Chamber.
  • Manage functions in space planning and utilization, policy and procedure development, internal controls, and risk management.
  • Oversee fleet management, building access, and overall administrative protocols.
  • Manage Human Resources, Financial Administration, and Computer Services teams.
  • Work with intra-organization teams to review, develop, and implement Chamber policies and procedures.
  • Lead efforts to respond to independent outside audits of Chamber internal controls.
  • Partner with OGS on Chamber lease issues and space allocations.
  • Coordinate management analysis functions including organizational planning and resource allocation.
  • Provide counsel on budgetary and fiscal policy development.
  • Monitor workforce and financial metrics to ensure proper resource allocation and accountability.
  • Partner with the Chief Diversity Officer on DEI initiatives and policy implementation.
  • Represent the Chief of Staff at meetings, conferences, and public events.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible work experience in public administration, public policy, law, or related fields.
  • Experience leading a large administrative function in a government entity is preferred.
