About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a pivotal leadership role within a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of young learners in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This position is designed for a driven leader who is passionate about making a positive impact on the community. The CAO will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day administrative effectiveness. This includes acting as the head of the finance, marketing, human resources, and IT departments, executing strategies that deliver results, and advancing the organization's overall performance. In this role, the CAO will partner closely with the CEO, serving as a confidant and ensuring alignment with the organization's vision, mission, and strategic plan. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate leader who is results-oriented and capable of fostering a collaborative leadership environment. This environment will promote innovative thinking that accelerates growth and efficiencies within the organization. The CAO will establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for various departments, develop the leadership team with a succession planning strategy, and attend regular meetings with the CEO and board of directors to provide authentic leadership. The CAO will also collaborate with senior management and department heads to achieve positive outcomes, navigate roadblocks, and facilitate strategic planning while overcoming challenges. A significant focus will be placed on reviewing and recommending process improvements, fostering a healthy and inclusive work environment, and demonstrating flexibility by wearing several hats and multitasking to drive results. This role is crucial for ensuring that the organization continues to serve young learners from marginalized communities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization's day-to-day administrative effectiveness.
  • Act as the head of the finance, marketing, human resources, and IT departments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of extensive administrative and senior leadership experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of fiscal planning, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Proven experience as a leader in finance, marketing, human resources, and/or IT.
  • Experience working with a board of directors.
  • Multi-year experience with a portfolio of leadership accomplishments.
  • Strong understanding of advancements in non-profit, education, and organizational development.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to adapt to changing non-profit dynamics.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to inform business decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
