About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at The Ohio State University College of Law is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the business operations of the college, which serves nearly 600 professional students. The CAO will manage financial, facilities, operational, and analytical functions while advising on strategic initiatives. This position reports directly to the Dean and plays a critical role in shaping the college's strategic direction, ensuring sustainability, and maintaining financial strength.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement business operations for the College of Law.
  • Oversee the college's financial, facilities, operational, and analytical functions.
  • Advise and counsel on strategic, marketing, communications, and technology initiatives.
  • Manage a budget of nearly $40 million and ensure proper accounting and transactions.
  • Develop short and long-range budget structures, plans, and goals.
  • Design administrative policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Serve as the facilities manager, overseeing day-to-day operations and space planning.
  • Manage a team of Administrative Assistants and student workers providing core administrative support.
  • Review operational policies and procedures and provide direction on process improvement.
  • Compile data for accrediting and ranking agencies and provide data-backed recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years in a fiscal position or equivalent education and experience.
  • Knowledge of University policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of data processing functions and prior managerial experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, or related area.
  • Experience with university budget restructuring and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Workday and Excel.
  • Knowledge of OSP (Office of Sponsored Programs) policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience or interest in building management.
