About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Dell Medical School will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of health care at the University of Texas at Austin. This executive position is responsible for providing strategic and operational direction to develop UT-Dell Med into a premier academic medical center. The CAO will collaborate closely with the Dean and other senior leaders to achieve financial, quality, and growth objectives while fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall strategic and operating direction for UT-Dell Medical School.
  • Inspires talented individuals to join the organization and serve patient needs.
  • Ensures alignment of critical resources and expands roles of education and research.
  • Designs and executes the organizational strategic growth plan and operations.
  • Fosters relationships with external organizations and secures partnerships.
  • Delivers financial and quality targets and operational goals.
  • Manages legal and regulatory compliance of the organization.
  • Sets priorities and achieves deliverables outlined by the strategic plan.
  • Develops and implements the organizational structure and leadership model.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required.
  • Ten or more years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Proven ability to implement multiple initiatives in a complex organization.
  • Broad knowledge of health care administration.
  • Experience in health care operations, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
