The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at Working America plays a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the organization. In addition to managing the daily administrative functions, the CAO will contribute to the strategic planning and goal-setting of the organization in collaboration with senior management. This includes overseeing the operations of Working America's headquarters and field offices, ensuring smooth workflow and office upkeep, and managing support services such as mail and custodial operations. The CAO will also be responsible for managing the Human Resources operations, which includes hiring and supervising staff, providing expertise on HR principles, and developing organizational policies. Furthermore, the CAO will administer compliance with personnel and benefit provisions of collective bargaining agreements and serve as a representative in interactions with collective bargaining units. The role also involves managing the accounting and payroll functions of the organization, including budget development, financial record maintenance, and ensuring fiscal success. The CAO will oversee compliance with charitable registration, lobbying, campaign finance, and other government disclosure requirements, as well as lead the negotiation of contracts with vendors and manage leases and business contracts. This position requires a high level of discretion, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work long and irregular hours as necessary.
