About the position

The Village of Savoy, Illinois, is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to manage the day-to-day operations of the municipal corporation. The CAO will serve as the administrative head and will be responsible for overseeing various departments and staff, ensuring efficient operation of the Village. The position is appointed by the Village President, who is the Chief Elected Official and Chief Executive Officer of the Village. The CAO will work closely with the Village Budget Officer, Village Clerk, Village Treasurer, and department heads to implement policies and manage resources effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Village of Savoy.
  • Oversee various departments and staff within the municipal corporation.
  • Implement policies set by the Village President and Trustees.
  • Prepare and manage the Village budget in collaboration with the Village Budget Officer.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Village government and the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, business management, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in municipal management with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must establish principal residence within the Village's corporate limits within 6 months of employment.
  • Must be bondable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in public administration, public policy, business management, or a closely related field.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in municipal management.
  • Credentialed Manager designation through the International City/County Management Association.
