About the position

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) plays a crucial role in building and managing the administrative structure and capacity within the Chamber. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, the CAO oversees various functions including space planning, policy development, internal controls, and risk management. This position also manages Human Resources, Financial Administration, and Computer Services, ensuring effective collaboration among these teams. The CAO is responsible for strategic planning, resource allocation, and the implementation of DEI initiatives, while also representing the Chief of Staff in various settings.

Responsibilities

  • Build administrative structure and capacity within the Chamber.
  • Manage functions in space planning and utilization, policy and procedure development, internal controls, and risk management.
  • Oversee Human Resources, Financial Administration, and Computer Services teams.
  • Work with intra-organization teams to develop and implement Chamber policies and procedures.
  • Lead efforts to respond to independent outside audits of Chamber internal controls.
  • Partner with OGS on Chamber lease issues and space allocations.
  • Coordinate management analysis functions including organizational planning and resource allocation.
  • Provide counsel on budgetary and fiscal policy to the Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Governor.
  • Monitor workforce and financial metrics to ensure proper resource management and accountability.
  • Partner with the Chief Diversity Officer on DEI initiatives and policy implementation.
  • Represent the Chief of Staff at meetings, conferences, and public events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, law, or a related field.
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible relevant work experience.
  • Experience leading a large administrative function in a government entity is preferred.
