About the position

The Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) at Care New England plays a pivotal role in supporting the strategic aims of the organization by overseeing the integration of clinical information systems and technology into its operations. This leadership position directly supports technology and business initiatives for one of Rhode Island's largest employers, partnering with the enterprise leadership team to drive business results and impact the organization and community in a unique clinical and technology role. The CCIO serves as a crucial bridge between the clinical and information technology departments, ensuring that clinical workflows are optimized through the effective use of technology. In this role, the CCIO will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to understand their needs and translate them into effective technology solutions. The incumbent will collaborate with IT teams to design and implement clinical information systems, such as electronic health records (EHRs) and computerized physician order entry (CPOE) systems. Additionally, the CCIO will monitor and evaluate the performance of these systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. The CCIO will also be responsible for developing and implementing the organization's clinical informatics strategy, ensuring the interoperability of different clinical systems, and leading the training and education of healthcare professionals on the use of clinical information systems. Compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as HIPAA and Meaningful Use, is essential, as is participation in strategic planning and decision-making processes related to clinical informatics. Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in clinical informatics and recommending innovative solutions will be key to the success of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing the organization's clinical informatics strategy.

Requirements

  • MD or DO required
  • Minimum 10 Years as practicing clinician with 5 or more years experience in direct clinical systems.
  • Practical experience with electronic health information systems in a hospital setting.
  • Current medical license in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Good problem solver with an in-depth knowledge of the current healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated executive level track record of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making.
