About the position

The Chief Clinical Technology Officer (CCTO) at NYU Dentistry plays a crucial role in providing strategic leadership and operational management for clinical technology services within the College of Dentistry. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Clinical Administration and Revenue Cycle Management, the CCTO is responsible for overseeing the clinical technology environment that supports patient care and clinical education functions. This position is influential in shaping policy and programmatic decisions related to clinical systems and technology, significantly impacting the largest dental school in the United States. The CCTO will develop and execute a comprehensive clinical technology strategy that addresses the evolving needs of healthcare and academia. This involves fostering collaboration with the Chief Information Officer, senior management, clinical administration, department chairs, and other stakeholders to create, communicate, and manage a central technology plan that aligns with the College's overall mission. The role requires a deep understanding of the structure, operations, strategic objectives, regulatory issues, and cultural environment of academic medical centers, ensuring that strategic objectives are effectively implemented within this context. In addition to strategic oversight, the CCTO will lead a team of professionals, motivating and developing staff to achieve operational results. The position demands exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that all parties are aligned and informed about the technological advancements and initiatives within the College.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational management for clinical technology services.
  • Oversee the clinical technology environment supporting patient care and clinical education functions.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive clinical technology strategy.
  • Foster collaboration with the Chief Information Officer and senior management to align technology plans with the College's mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience managing clinical information technology.
  • Proven leadership experience in a complex healthcare or related function.
  • Substantial managerial experience in formulating, planning, leading, directing, and controlling technology functions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant industry certifications such as Cybersecurity or data science.
  • 7+ years of experience in healthcare or academic IT management.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging healthcare and information technologies.
