About the position

The Chief Communications and Marketing Officer (CCMO) at Waverley Street Foundation will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy aimed at promoting climate change solutions. This role involves building a world-class communications team, collaborating with various stakeholders, and driving impactful campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences. The CCMO will work closely with the President and senior leadership to ensure that the Foundation's mission and initiatives are effectively communicated and supported through innovative marketing strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the communications, brand marketing, and campaign strategy.
  • Develop and implement a foundation/brand communications plan and program communications strategy.
  • Stand up and lead a world-class communications team of employees and consultants.
  • Create a strategy communications plan with supporting communication and marketing strategies, social media, content, tactics, and messaging.
  • Collaborate and build communications capacity for Waverley grantees.
  • Identify and deploy communications tools and strategies to change mindsets and shift power through focused campaigns.
  • Drive effective collaboration with partners to create shared assets and incubate specialized capabilities.
  • Lead global media efforts to secure high-impact coverage that supports the Foundation's work.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of communications and marketing experience, including at least five years in senior/executive leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in building communications plans, capacity, teams, and campaigns.
  • Experience working alongside visionary leaders to bring ideas to life.
  • Strong team leadership skills with a focus on empowerment and positive results.
  • Demonstrable understanding of implementing a global communications strategy with metrics for analysis.
  • Experience working directly in the Global South or strong knowledge of the region.
  • Directed $50M+ paid media campaigns and built a network of multi-disciplinary media relationships.
  • Strong understanding of translating grassroots efforts into global media campaigns.
