About the position

The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for leading the compliance and ethics program at BCBSKS, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical standards. This role involves strategic risk management and collaboration with various departments to foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization. The CCO will also oversee a team of compliance professionals and serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee compliance with all federal and state laws and programs, including Medicare and HIPAA privacy.
  • Maintain the company's compliance program to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance on compliance-related matters.
  • Create and deliver corporate and regulatory compliance reports for the board committees and other leadership.
  • Manage and enforce the corporate Code of Conduct.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and oversee inspections and audits.
  • Oversee the Privacy Program and provide guidance to the Privacy Officer.
  • Monitor the regulatory environment and assess business practices for compliance risks.
  • Support implementation of new legal and regulatory requirements, collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Manage corporate programs for regulatory tracking, policy management, and compliance auditing.
  • Develop processes for detecting and responding to compliance violations; conduct regular assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Law, Business Administration, Finance or related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in compliance, audit, risk management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • In-depth knowledge of health insurance regulations, including Government Programs, ACA, HIPAA, and Kansas requirements.
