The Chief Data Officer (CDO) at McKinsey & Company is a visionary leader responsible for shaping the firm's approach to data innovation and aligning its data strategy with overall business objectives. Reporting to the Head of Technology, the CDO will play a crucial strategic role in evolving McKinsey's data innovation capabilities to meet the needs of clients and senior leaders globally, as well as addressing internal requirements. This position is pivotal in maintaining McKinsey's status as a leader in providing strategic insights to clients. In this role, the CDO will lead a team of approximately 150 colleagues across enterprise data teams and data solutions teams embedded in 18 global industry verticals, utilizing a federated model to reinvent the firm's approach to data for future growth. The CDO will develop a holistic data ecosystem that facilitates the rapid development and delivery of new insights to both clients and the firm. This includes designing and implementing a cohesive data strategy, architecture, and governance framework to support ambitious goals for the firm and its clients. The CDO will serve as an advisor and thought partner to Cell leadership, addressing key questions, developing assets, managing data domains, and identifying resource needs. They will also drive the adoption of data strategy, standards, governance, and culture, ensuring sensitivity to organizational dynamics. Additionally, the CDO will implement data practices to uphold data privacy and mitigate risks globally, collaborating with the Risk management function to integrate risk policies into data asset development. As a community leader for Cell CDOs, the CDO will convene cross-cell activities, including data sharing, joint asset development, and performance metrics.
