About the position

The San Bernardino Superior Court is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the role of Chief Deputy Court Executive Officer of Administrative Services (Chief Deputy). This executive management position is responsible for overseeing and managing various critical functions of the court, including facilities management, records management with a focus on digital court transformation, capital project planning, contract oversight, and risk assessment and safety. The Chief Deputy will also administer and direct the functions of other court-wide programmatic areas and support services, playing a key role in the implementation of the court's five-year strategic plan. The ideal candidate for this position will possess exceptional leadership and management experience, with a collaborative nature and effective interpersonal and communication skills. A strong passion for public service is essential, as the Chief Deputy will represent the San Bernardino Superior Court (SBSC) at both local and state levels, making presentations to judicial officers, court staff, and stakeholders. This role requires a skilled professional who can introduce and enhance programs and strategic initiatives, ensuring the efficient operation of the Administrative Services Department. In this capacity, the Chief Deputy will be responsible for planning, managing, coordinating, administering, and evaluating all aspects of a centralized administrative operation. This includes overseeing facilities, contract oversight, security operations, capital project planning, and other administrative functions. The position reports directly to the Court Executive Officer (CEO) and is classified as an at-will position, reflecting the high level of responsibility and authority associated with this role.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage various functions of the court including facilities and records management.
  • Lead digital court transformation initiatives.
  • Plan and manage capital project planning and contract oversight.
  • Conduct risk assessment and ensure safety protocols are in place.
  • Administer and direct other court-wide programmatic areas and support services.
  • Participate in the implementation of the court's five-year strategic plan.
  • Represent SBSC at local and state levels, making presentations to judicial officers and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance, leadership, and support to the Administrative Services Department.
  • Evaluate all aspects of centralized administrative operations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in court administration, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience at a management level in facilities management, project management, or capital projects.
  • Experience in facilities procurement and cost center budget preparation is preferred.
  • A Master's Degree is preferred.
