About the position

The Chief Development and Marketing Officer (CDMO) at Girl Scouts of Western Ohio plays a pivotal role in driving the organization’s fundraising, marketing, and communication strategies. This position is essential for ensuring the success of all fundraising initiatives, government relations, advocacy, and outreach efforts. The CDMO will be responsible for creating, leading, and implementing a comprehensive communications and outreach strategy that targets various external audiences, including members, volunteers, funders, donors, board members, and constituents. The goal is to enhance the organization’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. As a key member of the executive management team, the CDMO will guide the council's direction and strategy with a strong focus on resource development and brand acceleration. This role involves overseeing a team of professionals dedicated to fundraising, donor relations, communications, public relations, marketing, publications, and social media functions. The CDMO will collaborate across departments to support the organization’s mission and ensure that all initiatives align with the overall strategic goals of the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. The CDMO will also be tasked with developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including major donors and community partners, to secure funding and support for the organization’s programs and initiatives. This position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in fundraising and marketing, capable of leading a diverse team and driving results in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement fundraising strategies to achieve revenue goals.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication plan.
  • Oversee donor relations and cultivate relationships with major donors.
  • Manage a team of professionals in fundraising, marketing, and communications.
  • Collaborate with the executive management team to guide the council's strategic direction.
  • Enhance the organization's visibility and impact through effective outreach efforts.
  • Ensure alignment of departmental initiatives with the organization's mission and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in fundraising, sales, marketing, public relations, or business.
  • CFRE certification preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience with progressive responsibility.
  • At least ten years of professional fundraising or relatable sales/business development experience.
  • Proven track record of soliciting six-figure gifts and achieving $2 million revenue goals.
