About the position

The Chief Development & Marketing Officer (CDMO) at WFYI Public Media is a key executive role responsible for leading the organization's fundraising and marketing strategies. This position aims to enhance donor acquisition and revenue while supporting the mission of WFYI through community engagement and outreach. The CDMO will oversee a team of 15 professionals and work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure the sustainability and growth of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a strategic fundraising operation to increase support and sustainability.
  • Build and implement a comprehensive strategic development plan.
  • Increase donor acquisition and revenue through existing relationships and creative engagement techniques.
  • Support the CEO and partner with the Executive Leadership Team to advance WFYI's mission.
  • Empower and inspire the Board of Directors in fundraising and engagement efforts.
  • Manage stewardship and relationships with a major donor portfolio, including corporate/foundations and individuals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 15 professionals, driving results through metrics.
  • Engage with the wider Indianapolis and Public Broadcasting community.
  • Enhance fundraising through marketing leadership, including events and communications.
  • Oversee operational leadership, including budgeting and recruitment.
  • Utilize data-driven analytics to maximize fundraising and marketing processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in non-profit or business management, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years' experience in non-profit fund development with a proven ability to raise significant revenue.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Operational experience including fiscal and budgetary responsibilities.
  • Experience in supervision and mentoring of professional development staff.
