About the position

Leidos is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead technical efforts across the Advanced Enterprise Global Information Technology Solutions (AEGIS) Program at NASA. This role involves managing relationships with senior technical leadership, vendors, and customers while overseeing the delivery of major service upgrades and projects. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for assessing operational baselines, contributing to program governance, and developing a technology roadmap to support new and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform systems analysis and planning activities to assist NASA in Strategy Generation for infrastructure systems.
  • Develop white papers, feasibility studies, trend analyses, business cases, and benchmarks.
  • Provide direction to the program team to meet user needs and contract requirements.
  • Manage hardware and software design, development, integration, and deployment support.
  • Review and assess future IT developments to ensure architectures evolve with new product releases.
  • Develop and document strategic/implementation plans for AEGIS services.
  • Assist in developing the Five-Year Integrated Information Technology Plan.
  • Maintain a Five-Year Hardware Lifecycle plan for deployed hardware.
  • Operate network technology laboratories for Mission and Corporate networks.
  • Support NASA in reviewing proposed changes to IT policies and recommend modifications as needed.
  • Advise the AEGIS program Manager on impacts to stability, cost, and service.
  • Engage with the Digital Modernization CTO organization to leverage expertise for the AEGIS contract.

Requirements

  • BA degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent leadership qualities and detail-oriented.
  • Deadline-driven with strong analytical skills.
  • Strong budgeting and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing a large IT organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and building relationships with customers.
  • Experience executing development programs in an agile environment.
  • Experience in leading teams delivering network solutions, data center technologies, cloud-based architectures, and collaboration services.
