About the position

The Chief Engineer (Digital Products) will play a pivotal role in the Tools & Outdoor team at Stanley Black & Decker, focusing on the development and implementation of strategic plans for connected digital solutions. This hybrid position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality digital products that meet user needs and performance criteria. The role involves managing the lifecycle of connected platforms, defining critical quality elements, and utilizing AWS IoT Core for data management and application integration.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Digital Product team staff and key stakeholders for strategic planning.
  • Develop and implement SBD's end-to-end connected solution digital architecture.
  • Define Critical To Quality (CTQ) elements for connected solutions and translate them for design teams.
  • Manage the continuous lifecycle of the connected platform and maintain technology roadmaps.
  • Create and manage reporting systems to track performance metrics and report results at leadership meetings.
  • Exhibit strong decision-making capabilities regarding business needs and objectives.
  • Enhance application lifecycle management best practices with a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience defining product vision and roadmaps for IoT cloud-based services.
  • Experience collaborating with Chief Engineers and Engineering Teams on digital product architectures.
  • Ability to define and document digital product requirements that are Critical To Quality (CTQ).
  • Experience creating reporting systems to track team performance metrics.
  • Working knowledge of global compliance for secure data handling and communication.
  • 10+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams in solution delivery and post-deployment.
  • Strong skills in Product Roadmap and Program Management to deliver quality products on time and budget.
  • Experience defining and tracking key product performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ability to manage team finances and development resources effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of technology stacks including firmware, Linux Gateways, and IoT data delivery.
  • Experience with Object Oriented Programming Principles and agile methodologies.
  • Collaboration with external partners and vendors for overall delivery.
  • Proven innovation and application of disruptive concepts.
