About the position

The Chief Estimator/Project Manager at PEI Contractors is a key role responsible for overseeing the estimation and project management processes for a variety of construction projects. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in cost estimation and project management, along with strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders including vendors, contractors, and clients. The role is essential for ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project drawings and specifications to prepare cost, time, materials and labor estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for use in determining estimates and project budgets.
• Work closely with vendors, contractors and in-house staff to discuss and formulate accurate estimates.
• Interact with owner's representatives, general contractors, architects, engineers, and vendors for estimating and project management of the project.

Requirements

• Preferred minimum 5 years' public and private estimating and project management experience required.
• Negotiate contracts with external vendors and subcontractors.
• Experience with estimating and bidding software (Sage Estimating or B2W & Agtek is a plus).
• Estimating and project scheduling skills.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Experience in the construction and trades industry.
• Ability to manage and estimate multiple large projects simultaneously.
• Must be reliable, self-motivated, goal-oriented, creative, positive, organized, detailed, and professional.
• Must be team-oriented and work well with others, possessing great communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Sage Estimating software.
• Familiarity with B2W and Agtek estimating software.
