About the position

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) plays a pivotal role in leading the organization towards achieving its mission of being the gold standard provider of professional certification for surgical technologists and surgical first assistants. The CEO is responsible for collaborating with the Board of Directors, staff, and various stakeholders to develop and execute strategic priorities that align with the organization's goals. This position requires a dynamic leader who can effectively manage a team of 10 full-time employees and oversee an annual revenue of $3.5 million. The CEO will ensure that all programs, activities, and services promote superior patient care in the surgical setting, reflecting the organization's commitment to excellence. In this role, the CEO will provide governance and leadership by working closely with the Board to communicate the strategic vision of the organization. They will facilitate the strategic planning process, advise on policy formulation, and regularly update the Board on organizational progress and challenges. The CEO will foster a culture of continuous learning, inclusivity, and collaboration, while also managing complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The CEO will also take charge of administrative and staff management, ensuring that the NBSTSA staff is motivated and rewarded for their contributions. They will attract and retain a diverse and high-performing team, empowering staff to achieve organizational goals. Strategic leadership will be a key focus, as the CEO will work to advance NBSTSA's reputation as a leader in certification, while also developing a robust digital strategy to enhance the organization's presence and user experience. Fiscal management is another critical responsibility, as the CEO will maintain financial stability and develop plans that support growth and innovation. They will oversee the preparation of the annual budget, monitor financial performance, and provide analysis to assist in decision-making. Additionally, the CEO will serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, developing strategic relationships and executing advocacy strategies to support NBSTSA's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate NBSTSA's financial and operational structures for improvements.
  • Request legal assistance and monitor the progress of cases involving the NBSTSA.
  • Serve as a key representative and spokesperson for the NBSTSA.
  • Develop and maintain strategic professional organizational relationships.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of branding, marketing, and communication efforts.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of executive-level experience in a certifying body or health-related organization.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with staff and the Board.
  • A record for building and leading a highly professional team in a performance-driven environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $270,000 - $300,000 based on experience.
