About the position

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HfHMB is responsible for leading the organization in a manner that supports and guides its mission as defined by the Board of Directors. The CEO will manage all operations, including resource development, revenue enhancement, construction, financial monitoring and reporting, staff supervision, marketing, and community outreach. The position requires effective communication with the Board, timely reporting, and collaboration on governance and budgeting. The CEO will also interface with Habitat International to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, develop community partnerships, and maintain relationships with various organizations to enhance HfHMB's mission. The role includes operational duties such as developing plans to increase housing units, overseeing the family selection process for new homeowners, and ensuring volunteer recognition. Additionally, the CEO will manage project and construction activities, support ReStore operations, and lead resource development and financial management efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead HfHMB in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Manage all operations including resource development, revenue enhancement, construction, financial monitoring and reporting, staff supervision, marketing, and community outreach.
  • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide timely and accurate information.
  • Develop and support a vision and policies that guide the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and staff on governance, budgeting, and Board development.
  • Interface with Habitat International to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and direction to committee chairs and show appreciation to all staff and Board committee participants.
  • Monitor work products through frequent feedback meetings with Managers.
  • Develop and expand community partnerships and enhance existing alliances.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the State.
  • Develop an operational plan to achieve the goals of increasing the number of housing units per year.
  • Work with the Finance Committee to develop realistic financial strategies and goals.
  • Collaborate with City and County staff to meet building project timelines.
  • Pursue and supervise positive press and media attention.
  • Oversee the family selection process for new homeowners.
  • Ensure that volunteers are recognized and develop a pipeline of regular volunteers.
  • Provide timely performance reviews for management staff.
  • Establish accountability measures for revenue targets at each ReStore.
  • Responsible for hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Coordinate all audit activities.
  • Aggressively seek new opportunities for land acquisition and future projects.
  • Evaluate new opportunities with detailed development pro formas, budgets, cash flows, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate pre-development and construction activities.
  • Oversee project management teams to complete housing projects within budget and timelines.
  • Support the promotion, growth, and purpose of the ReStore retail operations.
  • Provide oversight to ReStores working with ReStore Managers.
  • Approve established goals to increase revenue and grants.
  • Build strong relationships with donors and community partners.
  • Organize fundraising events and partner with other organizations.
  • Lead the Management Team to assure HfHMB operates a fiscally responsible annual budget.
  • Preview and approve financial management reporting.
  • Monitor cash flow and enforce financial policies.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of HfHMB.

Requirements

  • Experienced leadership in the complex development and operation of a multifaceted nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, land use planning or a related field.
  • Leadership and decision-making experience with responsibility for managing people, budgets, and organizational plans.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills across various roles and entities.
  • Knowledge and experience with affordable housing, residential construction, financial strategies, real estate transactions, local development, and building requirements.
  • Positive relationships with government leaders including elected officials and key staff.
  • Successful experience in recruiting and building a cadre of volunteers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree and/or Certificate in Nonprofit Management is desirable.

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000; final salary and compensation dependent upon qualifications and experience.
