About the position

The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will direct the financial operations of a nationally recognized non-profit organization focused on alleviating poverty. This role involves overseeing a $40 million annual budget, ensuring strong fiscal management, and developing processes for financial planning and monitoring. The CFO will collaborate with the executive team to set financial strategies, manage compliance, and provide financial analysis to support decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage operational aspects of financial planning and monitoring.
  • Oversee preparation of the annual budget and provide financial analysis to the CEO and Executive Staff.
  • Lead the finance team in budget management, forecasting, and risk assessment.
  • Set strategy for financial grant compliance in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Manage payroll functions and ensure tax compliance and day-to-day accounting processes.
  • Communicate complex financial matters to staff, leadership, and the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain agency financial records according to policy and funding requirements.
  • Perform investment statement reconciliations and provide information to the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external users.
  • Guide program and administrative staff in understanding financial information and statements.
  • Develop annual agency budget in conjunction with staff and oversee budgets for grants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Three or more years of supervision and financial management experience in an organization with revenues over $10 million.
  • Experience in a computerized accounting, multi-cost center environment and federal contracting systems.
