About the position

The Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO) at Agate Housing and Services is a newly created executive role that combines leadership in financial management with administrative oversight. This position is crucial for shaping policies and strategies that promote the organization's stability, growth, and innovation. The CFAO will supervise key directors and indirectly manage approximately 30 staff members, playing a vital role in ensuring that the organization meets its mission to end homelessness and relieve hunger through action and advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Team to set organizational strategies for longevity and growth.
  • Align senior leaders' strategic priorities with annual budgets and operational performance.
  • Provide financial and strategic information to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners.
  • Lead the Director of Finance in presenting accurate financial reports and monitoring the organization's financial position.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and engage with auditors as needed.
  • Maintain relationships with banking and investment institutions and develop investment strategies.
  • Establish internal financial controls and policies to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Lead the HR team in delivering comprehensive HR services and ensure compliance with employment laws.
  • Develop strategic grant and contract funding plans with the Director of Contracts and Compliance.
  • Oversee IT strategies and contract negotiations with service providers.
  • Drive operational excellence and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in finance and administration in the nonprofit sector.
  • Outstanding organizational leadership skills with experience leading organizations or departments.
  • Expertise in finance, accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and reporting.
  • Proven history of implementing trauma-informed care in team leadership.
  • Exceptional people skills with experience in developing diverse teams.
  • Ability to facilitate progressive organizational change and development.
