The Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO) plays a pivotal role in the organization, reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating with the Board of Directors. The CFAO is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that ensure the financial stability and growth of CGS, allowing the organization to expand its reach and impact. This position involves overseeing all fiscal responsibilities, providing critical financial and operational information, and making actionable recommendations to enhance both strategy and operations. The CFAO will also engage with program leadership to align financial planning with the agency's strategic goals and community needs. In addition to financial oversight, the CFAO will manage treasury functions, ensuring the organization's ongoing solvency and compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes overseeing investments, managing cash flow, and developing budgets in collaboration with top management and the Finance Committee. The CFAO will also be responsible for the preparation of financial reports, tax filings, and securing financing for various projects. Furthermore, the role encompasses administrative responsibilities, including risk management, insurance procurement, and the maintenance of agency properties. The CFAO will lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and effective work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess organizational performance against the annual budget and long-term strategy.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO.
  • Generate actionable business plans that align with the agency's strategic goals.
  • Engage the Board's Finance, Audit, and Investment Committees on operational issues and trends.
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Generate a monthly financial dashboard forecasting cash, revenue, and expenses.
  • Oversee all investments and establish investment strategy with the Board.
  • Manage cash flow and develop reliable cash flow projection processes.
  • Oversee budgeting and implementation of budgets to monitor progress.
  • Prepare monthly accounting reports for management and the Board.

Requirements

  • CPA preferred with 10-plus years of financial management experience in a large nonprofit organization.
  • Knowledge of GAAP for the nonprofit sector.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and a passion for the mission of Catholic Guardian.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and a forward-looking vision.
  • Experience working as a business partner to a CEO in a large organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting strategic visions into operational models.
  • Experience with governmental audits and financial management systems.
  • Experience in human resources and insurance management.
