About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Carlile is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the administrative, financial, and information technology operations of the company. This position is crucial in developing metrics that align with the company's strategic goals and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team to establish a strategic vision that promotes growth and profitability. This includes directing financial programs, managing internal controls, budgeting, tax planning, and safeguarding company assets. The CFO will also be responsible for fostering trust and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal teams, lending institutions, shareholders, and the broader financial community. In this role, the CFO will lead the treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, and accounting activities, providing strategic financial leadership and insights to the management team. The position requires the preparation of financial statements and reports, oversight of the annual financial statement audit, and the management of capital requests and budgeting processes. The CFO will also be tasked with enhancing internal control policies and procedures, coordinating annual insurance renewals, and participating in retirement plan fiduciary oversight. The role demands a proactive approach to studying economic trends and identifying future opportunities for growth. Additionally, the CFO will ensure that systems and policies are in place to maximize capital investment and human asset value. This includes collaborating with senior management on strategic issues, developing partnerships with external stakeholders, and overseeing the professional development of finance, accounting, and IT staff. The CFO will model a culture of open communication and ethical behavior, ensuring that the company's core values and safety vision are upheld. This leadership role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to motivate and develop employees for maximum performance.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the strategic vision with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team for company growth and profitability.
  • Direct and evaluate financial programs and supporting information systems, including internal controls and budgeting.
  • Develop and maintain performance measures that support the company's strategic direction.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements and reports, including the annual financial statement audit.
  • Manage capital request and budgeting processes.
  • Provide ownership of treasury functions focusing on working capital management and cash flow.
  • Interact with managers to provide consultative support through financial analyses and recommendations.
  • Prepare presentations for parent company executives and the Board, including financial reviews and risk assessments.
  • Enhance and enforce internal control policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage annual insurance renewals.
  • Perform special duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required; MBA or graduate degree preferred.
  • CPA or CMA required.
  • Fifteen years' experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities, including at least 7 years at a senior leadership level.
  • Supervisory and management experience required.
  • Strong technical GAAP skills with public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with insurance programs, such as workers' compensation and general liability.
