About the position

This position is for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to work at EAH Corporate located in San Rafael, CA. This is a hybrid-remote position. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in accounting, business or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; CPA preferred. 1.5 years of high-level accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit affordable housing environment. Minimum of 3 years of management experience. Salary range: $250k/year to $440k/year; hiring range for new employees is generally $250k/year to $345k/year DOE. Please note an offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate and the current salary level of individuals working at EAH in a similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops and implements effective accounting strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Establishes appropriate internal systems to support financial and business operations consistent with the company's growth and reporting requirements.
  • Reviews and analyzes the organization's accounting operation; establishes, develops, and /or recommends economic objectives and policies to management.
  • Assists senior management in developing short and long-term goals and objectives for the corporation.
  • Contributes to company's short-and long-range planning, identifying areas of possible growth, and expansion.
  • Ensures that policies are in accordance with evolving regulations, legal requirements, and industry trends.
  • Supervises the development and implementation of financial information and control systems, including general ledger, budgeting, cost allocation, and other subsystems.
  • With Accounting Manager, manages and oversees preparation of Profit & Loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flows and surplus cash.
  • Oversees insurance function to assure company's assets are safeguarded from all possible exposure.
  • Coordinates preparation of corporate budgets and forecasts.
  • Coordinates tax reporting requirements. Works with external accountants.
  • Coordinates the annual audit and ensures accounting records and reports are in compliance with GAAO and government regulations.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
  • Maintains and manages department budget and corporate budget.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Along with Accounting Manager, reviews and approves company invoices and expense reports. Develops corporate inventory controls, purchasing and central purchasing systems.
  • Directs budget preparation, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets.
  • Oversees hiring and succession planning for the Department. Assesses staffing requirements and fills open positions with qualified candidates.
  • Manages and coordinates annual report preparation and issuance.
  • Actively participates in EAH's Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience; CPA preferred.
