About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Oregon Department of Justice is a key leadership role responsible for coordinating the agency's budget, fiscal activities, and legislative interactions. This position oversees budget-related legislative activities, prepares and delivers testimony, and serves as a liaison with various state financial offices. The CFO is part of the Executive Team and reports directly to the Administrative Services Division Director, playing a crucial role in financial management and strategic planning within the agency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all budget and fiscal activities for the agency during legislative sessions.
  • Oversee budget-related legislative and Emergency Board activities.
  • Prepare and deliver testimony related to the agency's budget.
  • Track legislation related to the budget and represent the agency at the state legislature.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Department of Administrative Services Chief Financial Office and Legislative Fiscal Office budget analysts.
  • Provide management direction for the Agency's Financial Services section and functions.
  • Manage the preparation and execution of the Agency's biennial budget.
  • Direct the agency's legislative fiscal impact statements process.
  • Oversee the agency's financial management and reporting.
  • Provide Human Resource Management to the Financial Services Team.

Requirements

  • Five years of management experience.
  • OR two years of management experience AND a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in communicating complex financial information to non-financial leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, and critical thinking skills.

  • State of Oregon budget and financial experience.
