About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO)/Controller at Lunas Construction Cleanup, Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for driving financial excellence within a family-owned construction cleanup and recycling company. This position involves overseeing all financial aspects, managing office operations, and leading a team to ensure compliance and efficiency in financial processes. The CFO will play a crucial role in shaping the financial future of the company while fostering a supportive and family-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all financial aspects across multiple companies, including budget preparation, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations within an office atmosphere of 7-10 staff members, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the office staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage payroll processes and oversee employee benefits administration.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax requirements, and industry standards.
  • Create and monitor key performance indicators to drive business performance and inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee risk assessment processes and ensure comprehensive insurance coverage.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of company safety programs across all operations.
  • Manage banking relationships, conduct internal audits, and reconcile financial records to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial systems and software to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CFO, Controller, or similar role, preferably in the construction or related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of 7-10 office staff effectively.
  • Expertise in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid background in banking operations, auditing, and financial reconciliation.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
