About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a crucial role in the senior management team of the hospital, overseeing all financial operations and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The CFO will be responsible for strategic financial planning, managing departmental heads, and providing financial leadership to enhance the hospital's mission and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall financial operations of the acute-care facility, including accounting, budgeting, audits, tax, and financial planning activities.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, short- and long-range goals, objectives, and plans in collaboration with system management.
  • Provide financial leadership to hospital managers, directors, and officers to support and encourage participation in decision-making processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Contribute financial expertise in planning new services to generate additional profitable revenue.
  • Manage costs by identifying opportunities to eliminate non-value costs in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Analyze areas for organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Represent the hospital at meetings, including medical staff and board of director meetings, as well as community meetings as needed.
  • Participate in monthly operation reviews and corporate office meetings as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related business field with a minimum of 12 credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive managerial experience in financial/accounting within an acute care environment.
  • Recent experience as a CFO in a for-profit acute care hospital is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff and the community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal, financial, or medical matters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
