About the position

Acadia Healthcare is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Milestones Behavioral Health, a new state-of-the-art 68-bed behavioral healthcare hospital set to open in December 2024 in Indianapolis, IN. The CFO will play a crucial role as part of the senior leadership team, participating in financial and functional decision-making processes essential for achieving the facility's operational and financial goals. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and day-to-day fiscal management of the hospital, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards, and maintaining a clean audit with no material deficiencies. The CFO will ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts. They will prepare corporate-required reports, including the Monthly Operating Report and Corporate Disclosures, and ensure that all accounting and business office policies are in place. The CFO will direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle, striving to achieve goals for cash collections and minimizing uncompensated care. They will also maintain a thorough understanding of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies to ensure accurate payments and revenue deductions. In addition to financial oversight, the CFO will supervise various departments, including Accounting, Patient Accounting, and Health Information Management, ensuring they are adequately staffed and trained. The role involves preparing annual operating budgets, participating in strategic planning, and providing ongoing analysis of budget variances. The CFO will also prepare annual capital budgets and ensure compliance with Group Purchasing contracts to monitor supply costs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly in compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare corporate required reports including Monthly Operating Report and Corporate Disclosures.
  • Ensure all accounting and business office policies are in place for a clean audit.
  • Direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle to ensure timely collection of accounts receivable.
  • Strive to achieve goals for cash collections and minimize uncompensated care.
  • Review revenue cycle metrics to proactively identify and address performance issues.
  • Ensure Front End Revenue Cycle processes are in place, including insurance verification for all patients.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies.
  • Facilitate preparation of required cost reports.
  • Supervise Accounting, Patient Accounting, Health Information Management, and other assigned departments.
  • Ensure departments are adequately staffed and trained.
  • Prepare annual operating budget and participate in strategic planning.
  • Provide ongoing analysis of budget variances and assist in implementing changes to achieve budget goals.
  • Prepare annual capital budgets and ensure accurate recording of assets and depreciation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related field with a major in Accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of successful CFO experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous behavioral healthcare experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with a proprietary healthcare system highly preferred.
  • CPA or Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with information technology and proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and physicians.
  • Ability to lead with high emotional intelligence and ethics.
