About the position

Acadia Healthcare is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Mirror Lake Recovery Center, a facility dedicated to providing top-notch addiction treatment. The CFO will play a crucial role as part of the senior leadership team, participating in financial and functional decision-making processes essential for achieving the facility's operational and financial goals. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and managing the day-to-day fiscal activities of the center, which is located on a serene 75-acre campus in Burns, Tennessee. The CFO will ensure that financial statements are completed accurately and on time, and that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly in compliance with company policies. Additionally, the CFO will prepare corporate-required reports, ensuring that all accounting and business office policies are in place to facilitate a clean audit without material adjustments or deficiencies. The CFO will direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle, ensuring timely collection of accounts receivable and minimizing uncompensated care. This includes striving to achieve cash collection goals, reducing bad debt, and addressing denials. The CFO will also maintain a thorough understanding of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies to ensure accurate payments and proper recording of revenue deductions. The role involves supervising various departments, including Accounting, Patient Accounting, and Health Information Management, ensuring they are adequately staffed and trained. The CFO will prepare the annual operating budget and participate in strategic planning, providing ongoing analysis of budget variances and assisting the CEO in implementing necessary changes to meet budget goals. Furthermore, the CFO will prepare annual capital budgets and ensure compliance with Group Purchasing contracts to monitor supply costs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly in compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare corporate required reports including Monthly Operating Report and Corporate Disclosures accurately and on time.
  • Implement and maintain accounting and business office policies to facilitate a clean audit.
  • Direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle to ensure timely collection of accounts receivable.
  • Strive to achieve cash collection goals and reduce bad debt and denials.
  • Review revenue cycle metrics to proactively identify and address performance issues.
  • Ensure Front End Revenue Cycle processes are in place, including insurance verification for all patients.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies.
  • Facilitate preparation of required cost reports.
  • Supervise Accounting, Patient Accounting, Health Information Management, and other assigned departments.
  • Ensure departments are adequately staffed and trained.
  • Monitor compliance with Group Purchasing contracts and manage supply costs.
  • Prepare annual operating budget and participate in strategic planning processes.
  • Provide ongoing analysis of budget variances and assist the CEO in implementing changes.
  • Prepare annual capital budgets and ensure accurate recording of assets and depreciation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related field with a major in Accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of successful CFO experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous behavioral healthcare experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with a proprietary healthcare system is highly preferred.
  • CPA or Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with information technology and proficiency in software packages including Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, physicians, and corporate staff.
  • Ability to lead with a high degree of emotional intelligence and ethics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a senior financial role within a behavioral healthcare organization.
