About the position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Shorewood Behavioral Health will play a crucial role in leading the financial operations of a new 120-bed behavioral healthcare hospital set to open in November 2024 in Madison, WI. This position is integral to the senior leadership team, responsible for ensuring the facility's financial success through effective fiscal management and strategic decision-making. The CFO will oversee all financial operations, including accounting, revenue cycle management, budgeting, and compliance, while striving to achieve operational and financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly financial statements.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly in compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare corporate required reports accurately and on time.
  • Implement accounting and business office policies to facilitate clean audits.
  • Direct the operations of the Revenue Cycle to optimize accounts receivable collections.
  • Review revenue cycle metrics to proactively address performance issues.
  • Ensure insurance verification is completed for all patients and manage upfront collections.
  • Maintain knowledge of reimbursement methodologies to ensure accurate payments.
  • Supervise various departments including Accounting and Patient Accounting.
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets, participating in strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related field with a major in Accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of successful CFO experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous behavioral healthcare experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with a proprietary healthcare system is highly preferred.
  • CPA or Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with information technology and proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Familiarity with financial software specific to healthcare.
