The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Kuna Joint School District No. 3 is a pivotal role responsible for managing the short and long-term fiscal operations of the District. This position requires a strategic leader who can provide vision and analysis of the District's finances, ensuring that all financial activities align with the goals and objectives set forth by the District. The CFO must navigate the complexities of federal and state laws, accounting principles, and the operational directives of the Superintendent, while also adhering to the policy direction of the School Board and compliance with state and local regulatory agencies. In this role, the CFO will oversee all business services functions, including accounting, payroll, purchasing, budgeting, and auditing. Additionally, the CFO will provide oversight of Federal Program budgets, working closely with Federal Program Managers to ensure proper budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance with appropriations laws. The CFO will also advise the Superintendent and School Board on various business and financial matters, manage general ledgers for all District funds, and oversee grant accounting records. Long-range financial planning is a critical aspect of this role, including the development of local tax initiatives and strategies to maximize financial resources. The CFO will be responsible for managing all debt, including reporting on continuing disclosures, and will stay informed on trends in public financial management that may impact the District. The position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to forecast resource requirements, and the capacity to develop strategies that respond to the changing educational environment. The CFO will also maintain an active role in professional organizations and participate in the preparation of annual financial statements, budgets, and state-required reports.
