About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Merit Health Natchez is responsible for overseeing the overall financial operations of the acute-care facility. This includes managing accounting, budgeting, audits, tax, and financial planning activities. The CFO will work closely with system management to develop policies and procedures, provide financial leadership to hospital staff, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and contribute to the planning of new services that generate profitable revenue.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business-related field with a minimum of 12 credit hours in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive managerial experience in financial/accounting within an acute care environment.
  • Recent experience as a CFO in a for-profit acute care hospital is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff and the community.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal, financial, or medical matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall financial operations of the acute-care facility including accounting, budgetary, audits, tax, and financial planning activities.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, short- and long-range goals, objectives, and plans in collaboration with system management.
  • Provide financial leadership to hospital managers, directors, and officers to support and encourage participation in decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with necessary financial regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute financial expertise in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue.
  • Manage costs by identifying opportunities to eliminate non-value costs in conjunction with the CEO and CNO.
  • Analyze areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Represent the hospital at meetings including medical staff, hospital board meetings, and relevant community meetings.
  • Participate in monthly operation reviews and corporate office meetings as necessary.
